Considering that Synology is pushing a lot of new models, I felt it would be more clean to separate these type of info into a separate article then to keep them inside a dedicated DS1621xs+ article.

Just like the new DS1621+, looks like we are getting another AMD Ryzen V1500B based NAS but this time and 8bay upgrade to the familiar DS1819+. This might very well be the last model we will see before the end of the year

New 8bay half size rack size model that will probably come out in January of 2021. Both unit are 298mm (RS1221+) and 399mm (RS1221RP+) in depth, so they will be a perfect fit for a small rack enclouser.
These models have also adapted the new AMD V1500B CPU, the same one present in 1821+ as well as in 1621+, so at the moment we have 4 NAS units (all from "+" segment) running with the new CPU architecture.
Units are 10G ready via PCIe SFP+ and they provide 4x1G lan ports on the back as well. In case you want cache support you can also use the PCIe expansion by installing M2D20 or E10M20-T1 adapter cards to get 10G and NVMe support as well.
