Today, Synology announced some changes regarding login procedure into their C2 cloud platform. If you are unfamiliar with the platform you can visit https://c2.synology.com/en-us and see what its all about.
A few days ago I spoke about the upcoming Hybrid Share feature coming in DSM7. This feature will have the option to connect you local NAS with C2 and allow you to use it as an extension of your NAS. More details in this article. On top of this, DSM 7 will also have a new login feature into your NAS using Synology Account (and not just local account), so this change is probably aligned with certain under the hood changes that are going to happen.
Full information on these C2 changes are as follow:
On April 28, 2020, we are changing 2-step verification (2SV) on c2.synology.com to be aligned with Synology Account. Any 2SV already set up on your C2 account will be removed and replaced by 2SV setup on Synology Account.
If you did not enable 2-step verification on Synology Account, you should do so before April 28 to maintain account security. We’re making this change to improve account security and make 2-step verification simpler to adopt and maintain.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Synology Inc.
Its encouraging to see that despite the whole COVID-19 situation, things are moving along especially regarding DSM7 changes.
